Born in 1991; Lefkosia, Cyprus.
Christiana Ioannou is a self-taught filmmaker with a special interest in handmade film, collage, creative documentary and ethnographic animation. Her work is characterised by colour and story playfulness and genre combination. Her films have competed in important festivals such as Oberhausen ISFF and Ji.hlava IDFF, as well as in curated programs across Europe (NiMAC, FILMADRID and Animafest Cyprus)
She also works as a film curator with a focus on alternative and experimental cinema, a programmer at Images and Views of Alternative Cinema, a member of the International Competition pre-selection team of International Short Film Festival of Cyprus and currently a researcher at the University of Cyprus.
She was the artistic director of Cyprus Contemporary Film Centre,
a film platform dedicated to avant grade cinema.
She has a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Design from Nottingham Trent University (2010-13), and a Masters Degree in Performance Design and Practice, with a focus on contemporary dramaturgy from Central Saint Martins, London (2013-15).
